Mayor Appoints Represenative Solis To Valley International Airport Board
Mayor Rick Rodriguez has named State Representative Jim Solis as the newest member of the recently expanded board of directors at Valley International Airport. Representative Solis, now serving his seventh term in the legislature, is a life long resident of Harlingen and leading champion of improving the economic health of the community.
Representative Solis shares our vision for Valley International Airport as a critical element in our transportation infrastructure, said Mayor Rodriguez. His experience as a state lawmaker since 1992 is very valuable and will help the board move forward on reaching out to the region to use this resource for business and leisure travel, as well as cargo.
Rep. Solis currently serves as a member of the Texas House of Representatives Public Health Committee, Judiciary Committee and House Research Organization. His list of key legislative issues includes enhancing the transportation infrastructure of South Texas. I am delighted and honored with this appointment by Mayor Rodriguez and look forward to working with Chairman Jim Springfield and my fellow board members on the issues and growth of Valley International Airport, said Solis. The entire region is on the fast growth track and air support for business and people is essential to meeting the needs of our area.
Valley International Airport serves over 400,000 passengers a year and is the home for Southwest Airlines, Continental Express, Sun Country Airlines, DHL, Federal Express, UPS, BAX Global and UPS Supply Chain Solutions.
